In Loving Memory of Alain Dang [1976-2014]

Alain (r) with three generations of API Equality – Northern California interns at the White House for NQAPIA Conference 2012

Our staff, interns, and volunteers at API Equality – Northern California are proud to uplift Alain Dang’s life work and legacy of activism.

Alain was a community leader by example. He helped create API Equality – Northern California, served as a founding board of the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA), and worked as a staff member of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.

It is without a doubt Alain has touched the lives of many during his time with all of us.  Many groups have honored Alain’s incredible life and commitment to justice:

The Task Force
NQAPIA
Huffington Post
OC Weekly
Hyphen Magazine

Alain’s family recently shared a message to his many friends and supporters.

“Alain Dang’s parents would like to thank everyone for the many kind words and support during this difficult time. They have read many of the posts and comments on Alain’s FB page and are overwhelmed with solace. They take comfort in knowing he is loved by many and has touched countless lives, and that he will be watching over all of us until we meet again.”

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family has asked that people make an online donation to any of the organizations dear to Alain. Here are three suggestions, please let them know the donation is in Alain Dang’s memory:

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force– Policy Institute
National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance
API Equality – Northern California

The outpouring of positive thoughts and comments have helped us through this tough time. In loving memory of Alain, we will continue celebrating his life through our fight for justice.
