California’s health and human services programs provide a critical safety net for low-income, elderly and disabled members of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans communities. APIAs are the largest beneficiaries of some safety net programs, for example comprising the largest ethnic group receiving Supplementary Security Income/State Supplemental Payment (SSI/SSP) benefits.
As a champion of a strong safety net, AACRE advocates to protect and expand programs that provide health care, food, child care, and cash assistance for the state’s most vulnerable populations. AACRE conducts budget advocacy to ensure social service programs are adequately funded. AACRE partners also engage in administrative advocacy to remove language barriers to accessing safety net programs.
